Professional Surface Energy Measurement: Accu Dyne Test pens

Individual units available from 30 to 72 dynes/cm. Choose the exact level needed for your substrate (plastic, metal, or film)

The Accu Dyne Test™ Marker Pens are the industry standard for testing the surface energy (dyne levels) of substrates before printing, coating, or laminating. Poor adhesion is often the result of low surface energy; these pens allow you to pinpoint the exact treatment level of your material.

Advanced Valve-Tip Technology

Unlike standard felt-tip markers that can cross-contaminate samples, Accu Dyne pens feature a unique spring-loaded valve tip. This design separates the fluid storage from the applicator. By pressing the tip firmly, fresh reagent-grade fluid is dispensed, ensuring that every test is performed with uncontaminated liquid.

Key Features:

  • Wide Range: Available in even increments from 30 to 72 dynes/cm.

  • Accuracy: Specifically designed for quick, in-line testing or laboratory R&D.

  • Versatility: Compatible with virtually all smooth, non-absorptive substrates like PE, PP, PET, and coated boards.

  • Reliability: 6-month shelf life with consistent performance.

How to Interpret Results:

  1. Apply: Draw a line of fluid on the substrate.

  2. Observe:

    • If the fluid remains as a continuous film for 3 seconds, the surface energy is at least equal to the pen’s dyne level.

    • If the fluid beads or shrinks into droplets within 1 second, the surface energy is lower than the pen’s rating.

  3. Determine: Use a series of pens to narrow down the exact dyne level of the surface.
